5/27/2023 0 Comments Techsmith assets for camtasiaI just finished reading your support ticket and our replies that you claimed you never received even though you responded to them, including your first report on March 14th and our response within two hours, plus the four live chat logs in the last week including the one where you threatened our agent with posting their photo on social media if we did not provide you a fix "within one hour" or a refund. I'm the CEO of TechSmith, the makers of Camtasia. Even with it’s imperfections, for me, Camtasia is the best tool I’ve found for the work I do. Recognizing not every customer will have the same experience, as problems have arisen over the years, I’ve found TechSmith’s support to embody the professionalism and responsiveness that I strive to provide for those I support (using their software).Īs I said, TechSmith isn’t perfect, but just as I’ve yet to meet a perfect person, I’ve yet to meet a perfect company. While Camtasia is a paid piece of software, at $300 for a license and $50/year for maintenance, it’s one of the best values I know for a screen recorder and NLE video editor.Ĭamtasia and SnagIt have been core to my work for over a decade. On the other hand, while OBS can record my screen, if my objective is to produce training videos for my team, Camtasia is my first choice.Īre either pieces of software perfect? Of course not, but then again, neither am I. If my goal is streaming, OBS is a natural choice, and something Camtasia doesn’t try to be. Choosing one over the other is a case of shortsighted confirmation bias whereby when you’re a hammer, the whole world is a nail. I believe both Camtasia and OBS have different strengths.
